Civil works done right the first time

Site clearing, bulk excavation, drainage, retaining walls and concrete. One crew, one point of contact, from the first peg to the final level.

01 / Site Work

Civil earthworks & site excavation

Every build starts with the ground being right. We cut, fill and shape sites so that what goes on top sits level, drains away, and passes inspection the first time.

What's included

  • Site clearing & stripping to take off topsoil, vegetation and whatever else is in the way.
  • Bulk excavation & cut to fill shifted and compacted to the levels on your plan.
  • Building platforms & house pads set out, benched and compacted ready for footings.
  • Driveways & hardstand areas cut to grade and prepared for basecourse.
  • Cart away & fill supply with truck movements arranged so the rest of the site keeps working.

Signs you may need us

A section that falls the wrong way for the house you have consented, a build that cannot start until the platform is signed off, ground that turns to soup every time it rains, or a quote that came back with earthworks lumped in as one vague number. Any of those is worth a conversation before the machines are booked.

Ground not ready yet?

Tell us what you are building and where, and we will work out what has to shift.

  • Excavator working beside a newly formed coastal path, with the beach and open water behind
  • Excavator bucket at the base of a concrete manhole riser set between blockwork walls
02 / Water Management

Drainage installation & repairs

Water finds the weak point on every site eventually. We design and install drainage that moves it away from your build, your driveway and your neighbour's boundary long before it turns into someone's problem.

What's included

  • Subsoil & surface drains laid to fall and backfilled to spec.
  • Stormwater connections tied into council mains and left ready for inspection.
  • Repairs & unblocking on failing lines, without digging up the whole run.
  • Detention & retention tanks set and plumbed to your consent conditions.

Signs you may need us

Water pooling on the lawn days after rain, a driveway that scours out every winter, damp getting into the bottom of a wall, or a new build that needs a stormwater plan from scratch. The sooner we look, the more options you have.

Water sitting where it shouldn't?

Tell us where it pools and we will work out where it should go.

  • Stormwater pipe bedded on scoria in an open trench beside a new manhole
  • Looking down a finished manhole chamber at the benched concrete channel
03 / Ground Retention

Retaining walls

A retaining wall is only as good as what sits behind it. We build the structure to carry the load, then detail the drainage behind it so the pressure never gets a chance to build up.

What's included

  • Timber pole walls set to depth and backfilled, for banks within consented height.
  • Concrete crib & block walls where the load or the exposure rules timber out.
  • Engineered walls built to your engineer's drawings and left ready for sign off.
  • Drainage behind the wall with filter cloth, drainage metal and an outlet that actually runs.
  • Backfill in compacted lifts so the ground behind the wall does not slump a season later.

Signs you may need us

A bank that has slumped or cracked after heavy rain, fence posts leaning where the ground has crept, a section too steep to use, or a consent that calls for a wall before anything else can start. A wall is far cheaper to build once than to build twice.

Bank starting to move?

Tell us what it is holding back and we will work out what it needs.

  • Timber retaining wall poles set in a trench with drainage metal backfilled behind them
  • Setting out a retaining wall to a string line along a freshly cut batter
04 / Concrete

Concrete works

Concrete only performs as well as the ground underneath it. Because the dig and the pour are done by the same crew, the levels, the fall and the compaction all answer to one person.

What's included

  • Foundations & footings set out and poured to the engineer's detail.
  • Slabs & house pads boxed, reinforced and finished ready for the build.
  • Driveways & hardstand poured over prepared basecourse and finished to fall.
  • Boxing & steel handled in house, so the prep and the pour are one job rather than two trades.

Signs you may need us

A driveway breaking up at the joints, a slab or shed going in where the ground has to be fixed first, or a quote where the earthworks and the concrete came from two trades who blamed each other when it moved. One crew across both keeps the levels honest.

Need it poured, not just dug?

Tell us what it has to carry and we will handle the prep and the pour together.

05 / Site Readiness

Site preparation & bulk earthworks

Before anyone pours or builds, the site has to be safe to work on and firm enough to hold what it is given. We clear it, level it and compact it so the trades that follow are not fighting the ground.

What's included

  • Demolition & surface removal of old slabs, tracks, fences and anything else the new plan does not keep.
  • Vegetation clearing & grubbing including stumps and root systems that would rot out under fill.
  • Levelling & subgrade preparation brought to a consistent, workable surface across the whole footprint.
  • Compaction in lifts tested where the engineer or the council asks for it.
  • Site access & silt control with entry tracks, hardstand and controls that keep the site working through a wet week.

Signs you may need us

A raw section that has never been built on, a lot with an old house or slab still sitting on it, a site your trades cannot get a truck into, or a council inspection that wants silt controls in before any dirt moves. This is the work that stops the delays showing up later.

Site not ready for trades yet?

Tell us what is still on the ground and we will get it cleared, levelled and holding.

  • Shared driveway broken out to basecourse with the old concrete still in place alongside
  • Broken-out concrete and building debris loaded into a skip during site clearance
